New Leadership for District 21
Thank you for visiting this website, where you can find information about my candidacy for Maryland State Delegate in District 21. For over ten years, I’ve fought relentlessly as an activist, an advocate, and a public servant to improve the lives of people and protect the environment.
The most important thing I’ve learned is that one person has the power to make a difference, and that each person has the ability to tip the balance of a campaign, a movement, or a cause. I hope you will join me on my campaign to bring new leadership, renewed energy, and real results to District 21 and the state of Maryland.
Why I’m Running
At 18, I became passionate about protecting the environment and fighting climate change. During my freshman year, as I walked up and down the University of Maryland campus and gathered petition signatures for climate action, I learned the importance of making ourselves heard to our elected officials. In my early 20s, as I walked the halls of Annapolis and Congress advocating for climate and clean energy legislation, I realized the importance of electing smart, competent, and principled leaders to all levels of government. For the past six years, I’ve had the privilege of working for Councilwoman Mary Lehman, pushing the envelope on legislation to strengthen communities, improve government services, and make positive changes throughout Prince George’s County.
Although I’m proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish in the county, I’m frustrated by ongoing, unsolved problems in our communities and our state. There is much more work to do. For far too long, politicians have neglected aging school buildings, a deteriorating Metro system, a Chesapeake Bay on life support, growing income inequality, skyrocketing prescription drug prices, and the climate crisis. At the root of many of these issues is a campaign finance system designed for the wealthy and well-connected.
There is a hunger for new leaders in our state who are capable of taking on tough challenges and are willing to put citizens first in the political process. I’m excited to run this race, walk the district, and connect directly with residents to hear their concerns. Together, there's no limit to what we can accomplish.
